Despite an outcry from privacy advocates, the Federal Trade Commission has announced that it has no plans to regulate RFID technology at this time.
According to RCR Wireless News:
" 'I think it’s really early for that,' said FTC Commissioner Mozelle Thompson at an RFID workshop yesterday sponsored by the agency.
"Representatives from retailers and high-tech firms said any privacy problems can be sorted out by the market and self regulation, while consumer advocates urged policy-makers to exercise appropriate oversight of RFID applications."
