New Software Improves RFID Tag Placement

As many RFID test pilots have indicated over the past year, tag-reader inaccuracies are a major challenge the new technology has faced. Cape Systems Group hopes to change that with its new RFID Tag Locator Software. The software measures performance of current tag-reader systems and generates interactive, color-coded models. From these models, managers are better able to understand how the readers are interacting with the tags. The best tag-placement areas are then determined to increase scanning accuracy. The software is compatible with all standard RFID readers and does not require the Internet. According to Food Production:

"One of the biggest challenges of the RFID supply chain today is tag placement," said Cape's vice president for worldwide marketing, Peter Ayling, "Tags placed in the wrong location will lead to poor RFID reading results, which for many mean a failure to meet mandate compliance."
