RFID chip for poultry tracking

Digital Angel Corporation will be introducing a Bio-Thermo implantable RFID microchip for use in the poultry/bird market. The initial marketing activity will concentrate on Asia. The identity system will consist of an implantable Bio-Thermo microchip and scanners sensitive to temperature and identity. This will enable identification of birds at an individual level and help in segregating birds in case of an avian ailment.

Digital Angel Corporation has been providing the companion pet and equine marketplace with its RFID temperature sensing system. The system holds promise for preventing outbreaks of disease in cattle and swine. morerfid.com reports:

"As disease and bio-terrorism increasingly threaten the global food chain and the health of humans and livestock, the Company has targeted new applications in this area" said Kevin McGrath, President and CEO of Digital Angel.
