According to a study conducted by The Freedonia Group, by 2014 RFid labels would account for more than 85% of the market and the share of EAS labels would drop sharply. Many observers believe that the widespread deployment of RFid labels would lead to internet of things. It is expected that the US demand for smart labels would climb by over 11% annually to eight billion units by 2009. The fastest growth is expected in the RFid label segment and interactive packaging labels are also expected to grow strongly. On the other hand dominant EAS segment would remain almost stagnant with demand increasing at the rate of 2.2 % per year.
