Leading end users and representatives at the RFid Academic Convocation at MIT identified various projects across several industries that would be requiring tens of millions of dollars in investments over the next five years. The areas that would be requiring research funds are micro and nano manufacturing technologies, network protocol standards, innovative bio and material sciences development in packaging and specialized tags for airplane and auto parts. The convocation was meant to identify opportunities for research collaboration with RFid researchers worldwide and define core technology research areas needed to meet industry RFid requirements.
