The Indian Railways and RFID

Indian Railways is one of the largest Rail Networks in the world. It is India's favorite mode of transport. Moreover, the Indian Railways is a Freight giant. It is the biggest freight and courier transport player in the country.

Indian Railways plans to use RFID to track wagons and consignments. It has already started work on on Pilot Project. All wagons will carry embedded RFID chips. There will be special sheds that would read these chips and register data.

If the pilot project goes without any hitch, soon you will see RFID tags helping the customer and the railways track train movements at all times.
