Applied Wireless Identifications to embed RFid appliance edition software into readers

AWID Inc wants to make purchasing RFid reader easier. The company plans to embed IAnywhere’s RFid   Anywhere Appliance Edition software into RFid readers of new low cost line. The readers can support multiple communications protocols which include EPC Gen 2 protocol and run Microsoft Windows CE, replacing general purpose I/O controller board and Ethernet. This software also provides secure access to the management functions of an RFid reader which confirms to network authentication such as Active Directory. It allows on device logic to filter data generated by the reader and reduces network volume. The other features included are remote configuration and maintenance, reader firmware upgrade via network interface, auto restore, EPC 1.1 Management 1.0, SNMP MIB for network appliance and auto-discovery capability for registration of new readers detected on the network.
