RFid technology to beautify women

A new system has been developed by NTT, Digital Fashion and Seijo which combines RFid and computer technology and would make easier for Japanese women to visualize what different shades of make-up would look on their face without testing them. This system resembles a traditional make-up mirror with lights placed on either side but actually it is a computer monitor in the center. There are a number of panels on the monitor’s screen which show details of different make up and an image from a video camera mounted just above the screen. The customer is required to sit in front of the system and place the desired make up on a pad in front of the monitor. The samples of make up are tagged with RFid chips and the pad has a reader to enable the system to grab the RFid tag number and look up in the database for product details. The details are sent to the system which makes use of visual recognition technology to decide upon the different areas of the customer’s face in the video and manipulate the image to simulate the desired make up.
