Wired magazine has reported about a new book titled, The Spychips Threat: Why Christians Should Resist RFID and Electronic Surveillance, written by Katherine Albrecht , a reputed consumer advocate.
The author's point is simple enough: The RFID tag is the "mark of the beast" – thus implying that this technology is a sign (from the heaven) that the 'end' is near.
Katherine Albrecht has been a leading opponent of RFID. Interestingly, the original foreword by the science fiction author and blogger Bruce Sterling is missing in the current edition.
The book is squarely aimed for all those Americans who think that the Book of Revelation in the Bible forecasts events that are yet to come. A 2002 Time/CNN poll showed that 59% of all those polled believed this to be true.
